Harajuku Wanderings ♡

On of my absolute favourite places (no surprise) is Harajuku, its like a total hub of creativity and I'm always discovering new shops/places/galleries etc whenever I go for a wander there - which so far has been at least once a week! One of my all time favourite shopping places is the wonderful La Foret, a haven for everything cute with so many unique Japanese fashion brands and beautiful things. I love the displays of so many of the shops as well - so much thought and effort goes in.
On a visit last week I particularly loved this deer and floral display..so pretty!...

Love this shot of the front of Laforet during sales week, it was totally mental, completely rammed with trance music playing and all the shop staff screaming their deals! So much fun!

Some super cuteness in a few shops around Harajuku..

I also got Tokyo Street Snappered' By Reona Street Photographer:

Tokyo Snow Day ♡

So this weekend Tokyo had what many locals have told me has been the worst snow for 20 years! It's apparently very rare, and it landed upon us on Friday night/Saturday day time - about 20-25 cm! & covered everything in a snowy white blanket. Walking home on Saturday night was a totally crazy experience in the midst of a snow storm!! - but very pretty! - almost impossible to see or even hold up an umbrella though! Here are a few of my favourite photos from the last few days

Amazing snow cuteness in Kichijoji..

Art Cafe Muse Shibuya ♡

New favourite discovery was this little gem, hidden away behind a load of teensy record shops lining the backstreets of Shibuya and a few floors up a little building, it was so cute & pretty! - perfect for spending a few hours with a nice drink and my sketchbook. There were cute drinks for couples especially for valentines day, swinging window seats with vines all around, fairy lights & chandeliers shining on everything and art all over the place!  all over the walls and lots of individual artists homemade wares by the door that you could buy, definitely will be going back! ♡

Osamu Watanabe in Loft ♡

Words can't describe how excited I was to discover one of my all time favourite artists had a little exhibition on the artist floor in one of my favourite Japanese stores (Loft). Loft is the most incredible stationary/ cute overload store, with an abundance of amazing arty supplies, and they are scattered all over Japan. The one in Shibuya has different artists changing all the time on it's top floor - and was where I caught my eye over some of Osamu's beautiful sweetie covered sculptures in real life

Hope everyones having lovely days! Lots of Love x x x

Tokyo Adventurings: Tokujin Yoshioaka at the Museum of Contemporary Art ♡

Going to try & up to date with lots of adventuring's so far (so expect lots of posts over the next week! One of the first places we visited was the Museum of Contemporary Art for the absolutely incredible Tokujin Yoshioaka's exhibition, in a sleepy little suburb called Kiyusumi-Shirakawa:
The Museum itself was stunning enough with its many structures and shapes made out of glass and flowing water features around the front, just a spectacle for reflecting the beautiful sunlight of the day into lots of fragments of beautiful rainbow colour - making it perfect for the exhibition.

If your not familiar with Yoshioaka's sculpture & art, I can't recommend it enough, it's absolutely magical, in 'Crystallize' the focus was all on Crystal and pieces of art he'd made from intense amounts of crystal, unfortunately only two rooms in the exhibition allowed photography so the majority of my photographs are from outside/ the initial rooms, but my favourite was a piece entitled 'Swan Lake' where 3 facing walls had huge pieces of crystal and centralised was a huge pool with flowing water over what appeared growing crystal rocks, and Swan Lake music playing full blast

In the rooms you could take photographs, the striking factor over the whole exhibition was the way that light was captured by the crystal or glass used, and the colours and shapes that it reflected - an incredible spectrum of pastel rainbow

Hope everyones having lovely weeks! Be sure to have a search for Yoshioaka's work - you'll be blown away!

2014: Tokyo Adventuring begins ♡

So, on the 2nd January me and Craig changed our whole lives by moving across the world to try and fulfil creative dreams and live in our favourite city, Tokyo. It already feels like such a whirlwind, so many inspiring things and pretty places, and lovely people! We've moved into our little flat on the 11th floor of a big building in Meidaimae, a cute little area where theres lots of university's and cheap food and drink places (yet to explore properly!).  I've decided I'm going to adjust my blog to being more broad (this might be a slow-ish process), to fill it full of cute photos, places and my artwork, and keep it going as a visual diary of all the things I love and that inspire me. Anyways, here's a little few little snap's (more coming soon! ^_^)

♡ Shibuya Crossing
Headed here on our first day, 2nd January, completely jet lagged but we just had to see it, I don't think the magic of it will ever go, so many people, so many lights, it's one of my favourite places in Tokyo

Here's a daytime shot from another of my favourite spots, the famous starbucks (where quite a few of the scenes in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation was filmed) I love just watching the people go by.

Wandering round the dreamy backstreets of Ometesando..

Vegan sushi options from a super cheap sushi bar in Shibuya..

I'll post more soon! & my latest artwork ventures! Adjusting might take its time - still can't believe we're here and it's been three weeks! Hope you all had lovely new years! Lots of love x x x
