Hello lovelies!
Hope your all having wonderful bank holiday weekends!
Thought I'd do the next mini post on my antics from the past year - and a further little taster of my final collection, the final fabrics (and dresses - photos coming soon!) were all based around my own fairytale storybook (as aforementioned), and mainly digitally printed and embellished lots to make them super sparkly and enchanting.
Here's a few little snaps of sample fabrics/designs :) (more soon!)
Hope you like! Don't forget to come to the degree show if your around Brighton! :)

Fairytale Fauna Final Collection Part 1 : Drawings ♡
Hello lovelies! - So finally I am free and able to come back to blogging! - After the most intense year with what feels like I've been living in pastel bubble world (and a total roller coaster!) my Printed Textiles degree at Brighton is finally complete!! - the Fairytale Fauna collection is all done and ready to exhibit, with the private view next week (eeek!!)
& the public show straightaway afterwards as part of The University of Brighton Degree Show (1st - 12th June at Grand Parade Building Brighton) - opposite the Royal Pavilion :)
and London show will then be beginning on the 25th at Candid Arts Angel Islington, Please do pop along :) there are so many pretty things to see in the degree show! <3 I'll pop up more info on both very soon!
I'm currently in a total state of relief/excitement/exhaustion, & feel like theres so much I could write about I'm not sure where to even start! But I'm really excited to get my pastely pink fairytale vision out there ^_^
It all began with an influx of inspiration from all things Japanese and cute, a continual love for deer and pastel colours, fairytales and otherworldliness. It's all based around my drawings and their delicacy, So think I'll begin with a mini taster of some drawings :) Hope you like!
My pastel pencil drawings have resulted being the main focus within my fabric designs (more on those later) :
My pen drawings were used as visual research to visualise the story and world I was creating and to back up other illustrations and themes in my prints, helping to strengthen the vision of the collection :)
These little creatures are enchanted forest spirits ghostly lingering amongst all the cuteness,
Enchanted Rabbit (below), is a large illustration which has just been shortlisted for The Art Republic Visual Arts Prize as part of Brighton Fringe (eeeek!), if any of you lovelies have Facebook your vote would mean so much to me (if you like him!) - you just have to like the image on the Facebook page here:
Here's a little snippet of a screen print mid process to finish the post on - I ended up doing mainly digital printing in the end as I wanted so many colours and so much detailed drawing, but when it went right (there were quite a few disastrous colour attempts) screen printing was really pretty and a fun experience carrying it through to this level :)
Anyway, more super soon lovelies! Hope you've all got nice bank holiday weekends planned! Feels so nice to be at home seeing the family chilling out for a little bit - think mine's going to be super chilled! Lots of love x x x

Ghosts of gone birds♡
An exciting little event of the past couple of weeks has been my participating in a wonderful new exhibition in Brighton ...opening on 8th November based on the theme of extinct birds. It's super exciting!!!...read more HERE ! !
For my piece I did a detailed drawing of a Dodo which you can see in progress here with me in my room :)
Here's a mini version of my piece! (should be available as a print at the exhibition soon!)
I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an amazing exhibition of such a variety of super talented artists! Some of the pieces really blew me away! Don't want to reveal too much as I think you all should go visit for yourselves and see some truly beautiful birdy related treats!
The wonderful lady who I couldn't have done all of this without needs a mention too, the wonderful Debbie, who runs MoonKo an online platform of wonderful artists (I'm again lucky to be part of!)
& The wonderful gone birds facebook for previews on more of the pretty art!...GONE BIRDS FACEBOOK <3

Sleepy Hollow & the dress of dreams ♡
The other day I finaaally watched Sleepy Hollow for the first ever time, I am a huge fan of Tim Burton, but also super easily scared so I guess I always tended to go for the lesser creepy option!
However when I was looking through some old vogues a few weeks back, I came across an article with pictures Tim Walker had taken on the set of the film - they were utterly spellbinding, and the level of props and beautiful costumes looked right up my street, they talked about glitterifying mushrooms and setting up pretty woodland, and then on top of all this was literally the dress of dreams that Christina Ricci was wearing - like a lost victorian princess meets Marie Antoinette <3 So unbelievably gorgeous!
So it's no surprise when I finally watched the film - I loved it! (despite the scary gory bits!!), & decided that as part of a new series of teeny film posters I'm thinking of putting in my etsy shop soon - this had to be done!

Drive - a darker fairytale ♡
Last night I watched 'Drive', a film which stereotypically would not be my first choice, as after reading the back and the description of brutal bloody violence - I was a little scared and armed with super large cushions decided to branch out a bit & watch it, as I do quite like thriller type films.
I was quite blown away - firstly the soundtrack is just so unbelievably perfect - I can't stop listening to the beautiful humming buzz of something a cross between elctronic 80's and definitely large doses of M83 influence.
Secondly the styling, even down to that pretty 80's font - and the whole purpose behind the film was so dark and romantic - l could see clear influence from dark old fairytales, which put all the gore & violence into a context that was crucial to the film, and in reading up about the film discovered Refn's main idea behind it was to;
'make a movie that was structured like a fairy tale: condensed in its storytelling and with archetypal characters. Refn sees The Driver as a knight who roams around the countryside searching for people to save. To play with the common theme of fairy tales, The Driver protects what is good while at the same time killing degenerate people in violent ways'

Couldn't phrase it any better myself, & if you haven't seen it, I'd definitely recommend, its dark enchanting and had me hooked in some kind of spell the entire way through. Gosling has proved himself as a definite piece of talented acting candy to watch.
one of the prettiest songs...
Hope your all having a nice Monday! Lots of love x x x

Le Voyage dans la lune ♡
So last night I finaaally got round to watching Hugo, hands down one of the most magical and amazing films I've seen in a long time! It had the perfect balance between really hilarious moments, and parts that were so enchanting I started to get teary - what's even more amazing is that in very large part the story is true. It was so beautiful realising how ones man's beautiful dreams happened - and how he was a pioneer of film to showcase the make believe and as a medium of art - it was spellbinding and seriously inspiring!
Having always been a massive Air fan, when they created a soundtrack to the beautiful fairytale like film Le Voyage dans la lune by Georges Melies, I had to watch & listen straight away. (Hugo is about Melies life)
The film was originally made in 1902 and has just been finished in it's remastered state - a process which has taken a seriously long time! The results are so gorgeous and dreamy though! I can't stop watching it and wanting to be in that dream world <3 Here are some shots from Le Voyage dans la lune
Hope your all having lovely weeks! Lots of love x x x

Alice & Other Tales & Things ♡
So Today I ventured up to Liverpool to visit the Alice in Wonderland exhibition before it finished. In being an ma-haaasive alice lover myself I had high expectations & excitement before I even got there..and well..I was blown away! If you get chance before it finishes this week...goooo quickly & soak up some of it's magic!...
There was everything from the original manuscripts, tons of various copies of the book (lots old and with absolutely gorgeous delicate illustrations), Lewis Caroll's photography...and his camera! and so much incredibly art by the biggest variety of artists all sharing the spirit and themes of one of my favourite tales. The range and beauty of the art there was insane, it all felt like a huge cloud of dreamy inspiration.
Here's a cute little section of the gorgeous display in the shop...(there were cakes suspended from the ceiling ! !)..
I've been really getting into re reading old (and new) fairytales recently, namely 'Alice Through the needles eye' & 'Grimm's Fairytales' & watching tons of old disney films (: I've been working on some princesses and fairytales bits as I've mentioned in previous posts, so thought it was about time to post a few pictures...! Here's Snow White...
aaaaand a little fairy castle and sleeping beauty....

more to come soon...hope you've all had wonderful Saturdays...lots of love!
